What music did you dance to at your Prom? For most high schoolers across the U.S., Prom (or Senior Ball) is a night of dressing up, feeling and looking your best, dancing to top hits, and enjoying the last month or so of high school before you're off to start the rest of your life. It's a milestone event, a cherry-on-top moment where you can stay up late with your friends dancing the night away.
This Prom season, we're excited to spotlight Musicians On Call. Musicians On Call (MOC) brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare environments. Every spring, MOC puts on a Prom campaign for teens in hospitals, bringing music to their hospital rooms so everyone can join in on the fun of Prom.
Read on to learn more about Musicians On Call's Prom campaign and how you can support their great work today.
What is the Musicians On Call Prom campaign and how did it come about?
Prom season looks different for teens who are in the hospital. They don’t get the same opportunities to celebrate like their peers do. Musicians On Call’s Prom brings the party to them with a virtual concert full of musical performances and greetings from some of their favorite stars. MOC also teams up with brand partners like Men’s Wearhouse to create unforgettable experiences for hospitalized teens. With this campaign we are able to help them make happy Prom memories from the hospital.
Which musicians are featured this year? How many hospitals will be participating?
This year’s campaign features Jax, Walker Hayes, TWICE, Maisie Peters, Alec Benjamin, Frawley, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Hello Sister, King Calaway and more. The virtual concert will be shared with the 60+ pediatric hospitals in Musicians On Call’s network. Country star Walker Hayes will visit with patients in Nashville for an in-person celebration, and patients in St. Louis, San Francisco and Oakland will have the chance to be styled in suits from Men’s Wearhouse for their hospital Prom celebrations.
What kind of impact have you seen the Prom campaign have on patients and their families?
With Musicians On Call’s Prom, patients are given the chance to just be teens for a while and enjoy a celebration that other teens across the country are also experiencing. We’ve received wonderful feedback on how special the campaign makes them feel and how much they enjoy the music. One hospital shared, "It was just so impactful for them to be seen and heard and have some normalcy." A pediatric patient shared his excitement in getting to wear a suit, stating “last time I got to wear a dress, and this time I get to wear a suit and see the difference in experience.”
