We're excited to announce that Change is powering the charitable donations for the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA)'s Brotherhood Deli pop up this summer in Las Vegas. The three-day NYC deli-themed fan shop allows basketball enthusiasts to connect with their favorite rookie players, shop limited edition drops, dance to the DJ, and enjoy athletes' deli favorites.
When fans shop with the NBPA Brotherhood Deli, they have the power to make the ultimate “assist” to give back effortlessly through an all-in-one donation platform, Change. Shoppers making purchases, both onsite and online, can “Change the Game” by adding a Free Throw ($1), Three-Point Play ($3), or Dime ($10) to their purchase at checkout. The “assist” goes directly to the NBPA Foundation, supporting vital community programs and helping to amplify the positive work of NBA players.
The NBPA's Brotherhood Deli is launched in tandem with the opening weekend of the NBA's Summer League, an exciting time for basketball enthusiasts to enjoy off-season ball.
Support to the NBPA Foundation can be granted onsite in Las Vegas or online at the NBPA's Brotherhood Deli.
The legal compliance for this entire initiative is also being managed from end-to-end by Change. A new California bill (CA AB 488) requires any company that solicits donations online from California residents to register as a charitable fundraising platform. Because the NBPA is running a campaign with add-on donations at checkout, this bill applies to them. Change manages all of the filings required for these platforms.
By integrating Change's donation platform into the NBPA Brotherhood Deli, Change is helping fans connect and support impactful initiatives that the NBPA Foundation addresses, like providing resources for youth sports in neighborhoods or coming up with a game plan for individual players' philanthropic endeavors.
We're hyped to see the positive outcomes the NBPA's Brotherhood Deli will bring to the basketball community and beyond!
